Freelancing Opportunities
First, let’s talk about what freelancing is…and what it is isn’t.
Freelancing is to work either as a self-employed company, or to be hired for as a part time (or full-time) contractor. While working a contractor, it can be either be project based, or even time based, for example 3 months, 6 months, or even a year. It will all depend on the opportunity and the agreement between the parties.
Contractor vs. Employee
There are several differences between a contractor and an employee. Let’s take a look at some of the similarities and differences between the two.
An employee is usually hired on full-time (or part-time) and is paid a negotiated salary. It’s in essence, exchanging time for tasks. The salaried position typically provides benefits such as paid time off, a 401K usually, HSA account, and paid sick time to name a few. A representative from the HR department will provide a benefits packet to the employee during the hiring process. At the beginning of the year, the employee usually receives a W2 for wages earned during the preceding year.
While working as a contractor, or as a self-employee company, there are typically no benefits, such as paid insurance, 401K, HSA accounts or paid time off. The contractor works per the terms and agreement per the project until it ends. The contractor may receive a 1099 form from each company they were contracted to work with during the year.
According to a recent study in 2019, there are more freelancers now than there were ever before in history. It is estimated by Upwork, there are an estimated 57 million American who freelanced in 2019, and now that it’s 2022, it’s probably much higher.
It’s a great time to be freelancing, and so next, we are going to provide some freelancing opportunities to help you get started in this fast-growing gig economy.

Fiverr
Fiverr is a great platform that brings freelancers together. With Fiverr the opportunities are limitless, for instance, you can edit videos, write blogs, become a ghostwriter, be a voiceover, create logos, do graphic design, it’s a great platform, the opportunities are endless.
There are a lot of freelances on this platform so the competition is heavy, however, you with a great profile, complete with a full picture, references, reviews and samples of work that you have performed, you can stand out from the crowd. Create an awesome headline, with eye-catching designs and you should be off the ground running.
Upwork
Upwork is another platform for freelancers and is very similar to Fiverr. Many people who choose to get into freelancing sign up with both accounts to increase their network, however some just choose the one platform.

Freelancer.com is another site just like Fiverr and Upwork, where you can freelance. All you do is sign up on their website, create a profile and then you can search for freelancing opportunities or people may reach out to you for a project.
FlexJobs
FlexJobs,com is a site where you can find many remote jobs online in many fields.
99designs
99designs is the go-to graphic design service by Vistaprint. The platform connects designers to help create logos, websites, branding and other marketing products.
Redbubble
If you like to create designs, you can upload them on to the redbubble platform to sell. Redbubble allows you to set up a store (similar to Etsy) and it can serve as a print-on-demand store. This means if someone were to select your product and order it, then the manufacturer would then print your design, if it’s a T-shirt for example, then ship it to the customer for you.

Etsy is a global online marketplace, where people come together to make, sell, buy and collect unique things. If you like to create homemade soaps for instance, or cool crafts to excel spreadsheets. Etsy is a great marketplace to house these crafts. You can set up your own store and have fun creating and adding to your collection.
