I have had a passion to travel and see outside the walls of my country for a long time.

I love to learn about other cultures, customs, and ways of life. I always thought, one day…That one day became now.

Moving Abroad

Through the series of recent events, I decided to take the window of opportunity presented to me and make this a reality.

I sold my home, and most of my belongings and decided to take the calculated risk to travel and leave my home country. Say What?

For a long time, I have been an observer and enthralled with RV’ers and Vanlifers, who travel the country. In addition, I have been a follower of many YouTube channels who travel to other countries, especially solo, and within that culture, those who are female traveling solo.

I enjoyed every last episode and adventure while I watched from my computer or phone.

Now, it’s my turn.  The article I discussed Resolve, has taken action in my life, yet again.

Why is Everyone Leaving the USA and CANADA?

It turns out, I’m not the only one who has decided to make the big move. In 2021, Mexico saw approximately 31 million tourists per this article here, which is over a 28% increase from the previous year.

I don’t intend to be a tourist, per say, but a resident. Before I left the USA I went through the process of applying for temporary residency in Mexico and was accepted. Now, that I am in Mexico, I am completing the process until I obtain my formal residency card.

How is this possible?

I joined a site called HouseSitMexico.com where I can stay at home for free in exchange for taking care of pets (and the home).  If you wish to join, they are currently offering 20% discount using my link and I will receive 2 free months.

I have done this locally for 4–5 years prior and it’s a way for me to capitalize on what I love doing. In addition, I applied for and received my temporary residency. Would you like to know more about that process? (Place a note in the comments.)

It’s a WIN/WIN.

The pets can enjoy staying in their home, where they feel comfortable and travelers can enjoy seeing new places at the same time. Owners can have peace of mind knowing that their home and pets are taken care of while away.

Where will you live?

I decided to start my journey in Mexico in the Lake Chapala/Ajijic area. This area is known to draw many Americans and Canadians. The weather is amazing, the people are friendly, English is spoken widely, and is a safe location. The area is right on Lake Chapala, which is the largest lake in Mexico so it’s a beautiful area.
